I've been messing around with this site over the past couple days, and it's very interesting. You can sit down at any table and play for play money with a combination of human players and bots (mostly bots) which are themselves modeled after the human players who've played on the site. As you play, the software learns your style, and then creates a bot which mimics your play. Once you leave the table, the bot starts playing in your place. It continues to play against other virtual players and will move up in stakes based on bankroll requirements that you determine (the default is 25 big bets).
At each table there is a character called "Sonia" who is a bot which has taught itself to play using some sort of learning algorithm, and is alleged to play at a high level. Something very similar to this was done with backgammon, where programs were designed that taught themselves how to play using only a basic understanding of the rules and an ability to play against themselves. The bots ultimately learned to beat the best human players, and consequently taught us new strategies for the game. In theory the same could be done with poker, but I doubt that Sonia is such a program judging by her play (she makes some very strange plays that seem obviously wrong to an experienced player).
Anyways, you guys should check this site out. I'm in the middle of "training" my own bot and have logged about 300 hands so far.
